Under the leadership of the Library Information Technology, the Library IT Production Services provides critical technological infrastructure to the Library including server and database administration, desktop and network support, web development and maintenance, and access control.

The Map Library is the University Library's primary location for cartographic materials including maps, atlases, and Illinois aerial photography flown between 1939 and 2005. The collection includes more than 625,000 maps and photographs. Map and atlas coverage includes worldwide materials produced during the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries. Complementary to the cartographic materials, the Map Library is home to texts on cartographic techniques and map interpretation, history of cartography, geographic information science(GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), remote sensing, spatial statistics, and place names. Additionally, the Map Library can assist in obtaining access to geologic mapping housed at the Oak Street Library Facility. The Map Library serves as a resource for the entire campus, the state of Illinois, and national and international users.

The Media Commons, located on the north and east side of the upper level of the Undergraduate Library, is a collaborative campus effort that provides students and faculty opportunities to experiment with emerging technologies, with expanded opportunities to learn of best practices in educational technology.

In addition to a robust loanable technology program, the Media Commons is a service space that offers faculty, students, and users the ability to create, disseminate, use, and curate digital media. The goal is to meet the need for broad access to media creation tools, information technology training in multimedia hardware and software, and instruction in media literacy.

Provides digital media support and consultation. Focuses on audio and video, but also emerging technology in general.

Omeka is a software tool that enables you to create dynamic online exhibits that showcase collections of digital images, text, and other multi-media formats in one seamless site

PWW is a digital scholarly publishing initiative that is scholar-driven, openly accessible, scalable, and sustainable. PWW will directly engage with you throughout the research process. It aims to build publishing models that can be supported locally by a university's library, while also opening new avenues toward publication through university presses and other publishers.
