"December 2020 Use Cases and Capability Delivery Plans" Rating

Login to view assessment questions and vote if eligible.

We asked the UREP to rate the usefulness of each of the following use cases and their proposed Capability Delivery Plans (CDPs) at the end of 2020 to assess their importance. These were features requested by XSEDE stakeholders during 2020. The results will guide our work during 2021.

The UREP used the following rating scale.

5 star - XSEDE should do this. (high priority)
4 star - XSEDE should do this. (normal priority)
3 star - XSEDE should do this. (low priority)
2 star - XSEDE should not do this. (maybe)
1 star - XSEDE should not do this. (definitely)

HPC-06: Submit and manage jobs on a community resource using a web-enabled device
(Capability Delivery Plan)

XSEDE is proposing to conduct an engineering analysis to evaluate different approaches to providing Open OnDemand interfaces to XSEDE resources. Use cases DA-07, HPC-05, -06, and -07, TS-04, and CAN-04 are all specific things researchers could do with an Open OnDemand interface to XSEDE SP resources. Your rating for each of these use cases will help us understand the relative value of each use case, which will help focus our attention on the most valuable features: both during the engineering analysis and during roll-out of any Open OnDemand features.

CAN-04: Open a command shell on a login server
(Capability Delivery Plan)

XSEDE is proposing to conduct an engineering analysis to evaluate different approaches to providing Open OnDemand interfaces to XSEDE resources. Among other features, Open OnDemand would likely offer authenticated XSEDE users the option of opening a command shell on XSEDE resources from Open OnDemand (in the web browser) as an alternative to the XSEDE SSO Hub, which requires a locally-installed SSH client. Your rating for each of these use cases will help us understand the relative value of each use case, which will help focus our attention on the most valuable features: both during the engineering analysis and during roll-out of any Open OnDemand features.
