PEARC17 BoF: Globus Toolkit Support Changes

Jun 30, 2017

XSEDE's Cyberinfrastructure Integration (XCI) team invites you to an informal Birds-of-a-Feather discussion session at PEARC17 to share your observations and plans regarding use of X.509 authentication mechanisms.  In light of the Globus team's announcement of End-of-Support for the Globus Toolkit in January 2018, XCI is reviewing XSEDE's use of X.509 and assessing our need to either migrate to other X.509 software or replace X.509 support in XSEDE's system interfaces with newer OAuth and OpenID Connect mechanisms. We are especially interested in knowing how the rest of the scientific community is using X.509 and your future plans.

If you are attending PEARC17 and have any observations or plans that you can share with the community, please join us on Tuesday July 11 at 2:30pm in the Bolden Conference Room (2nd Floor, south side of Atrium elevators).

We invite XSEDE staff and the XSEDE community to send related requirements and questions by August 2017 to help@xsede.org using the “Subject: Globus Toolkit Support Changes.” To participate in an online Q&A forum discussion on this topic please visit: https://software.xsede.org/xci-127-qa.

We are also exploring options for organizing follow-on meetings on this topic in the future. Please contact us for more details.
