Gartner Research Data The Gartner Group is a research and advisory company focused on information technology (IT) technologies, practices, and strategies. It provides analysis to corporate, government, and higher education clients through a variety of media, including the Gartner Research website. This research and analysis can be used throughout the University for planning, decision making, and measurement purposes for making continual process improvements towards industry best practices.
The University of Illinois has purchased access to Gartner Research's Core Research, which does not include their Dataquest documents nor special reports. Other information is only available by request to the University's Gartner representative. |
ISGS Map Series Information Data Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) ISGS maps are published in a variety of series, differentiated primarily by level of review. Those map series that are available online are described below. Additional maps, not part of the online map series, may be available in other ISGS Publications. |
Coal Mines in Illinois Viewer (ILMINES) Data Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) These data were compiled by the ISGS for known underground and surface coal mines as well as underground industrial mines. For more information including links to coal mine maps and informational directories, coal resource maps, and coal logs please see the County Coal Map Series. |
Quantifying and Improving the Accuracy of Detecting Genomic Variation Data Center for Computational Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine (CCBGM) This project will improve the robustness of error analysis and correction by developing new root-cause error analysis methods and hybrid error-correction algorithms accelerated via FPGA or GPU implementations. Variant calling will be improved by both suppressing errors and building new machine-learning based techniques that would work with clinical workflows. |

Web Resources for maps By Map Library Data University Library An organized list of web resources that users may find helpful in furthering their research. These resources are not produced or maintained by the Map and Geography and we are not responsible for their content.Be sure to cite any resources you use! |
Data Planet Data University Library From their site: "Data Planet publishes statistical datasets that are sourced from a wide range of public and private organizations. We call Data Planet an “aggregation” of datasets – a collection of datasets served up together. It’s the same concept as the big journal databases available through your library that bring together journals from different publishers – we do something similar but with statistical datasets as the content." By visiting Data Planet through the University Library proxy URL, you'll receive access to more datasets. |
Data Reporting and Analysis Data Information Services provide data reporting and analysis services across various information systems to support the information needs of the College of Engineering. |
Gamma-Ray Logs Database Data Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) The ISGS Geologic Mapping Program Gamma-Ray Logs Database uses an interactive map to allow users to view individual logs and standardized borehole location information for 19 counties in Illinois. A few logs collected from county boundaries in Wisconsin are also included in the database. |
Government Information Services, Access and Collections Data University Library Government Information Services, Access, and Collections provides access to the largest and most comprehensive United States Federal Depository Library collection in east-central Illinois.
The University Library began collecting U.S. Federal documents of significant research value prior to becoming a depository in 1907, and therefore has a substantial collection of 19th century congressional materials, agency reports, and statistical series. We have received all State of Illinois materials, including documents from the Illinois General Assembly and other Illinois state agencies, from the 1950s forward. |

MAP library Collections Data University Library The Map Library is the University Library's primary location for cartographic materials including maps, atlases, and Illinois aerial photography flown between 1939 and 2005. The collection includes more than 625,000 maps and photographs. Map and atlas coverage includes worldwide materials produced during the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries. Complementary to the cartographic materials, the Map Library is home to texts on cartographic techniques and map interpretation, history of cartography, geographic information science(GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), remote sensing, spatial statistics, and place names. Additionally, the Map Library can assist in obtaining access to geologic mapping housed at the Oak Street Library Facility. The Map Library serves as a resource for the entire campus, the state of Illinois, and national and international users. |
3D Geologic Modeling Data Data Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) In two field seasons (2008-2009), the ISGS and McHenry County collected 31 continuous lithologic cores to bedrock (17 wireline-mud rotary, 14 rotosonic), which included downhole geophysical logs at each location (gamma ray and electrical resistivity). The ISGS also collected approximately 90 km of 2D geophysical profiles (seismic (51 km) and electrical resistivity (39 km)). The geophysical datasets help geologists further decipher the character of glacial sediments below land surface. These field data have been the key datasets for regional and local geologic interpretation in the County. |
